Make it Through Monday
If you read Day 4 of my devotional, Tiny Treasures, you know the second most talked-about treasure is getting through Monday. Mondays are usually the hardest day of the week. If you follow me on social media, you’ve probably seen my positive Monday posts to cheer up friends and family. In case you missed any, I’m putting them all here. Feel free to share or use them. I’ll keep adding more as I make them.

      Manic Monday
Day 4 devotional from Tiny Treasures
Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 CSB
One big stretch after another, one big yawn, and just five more minutes of being the most comfortable I’ve been all night – it’s time to get up – it’s Monday morning.
In most workplaces Mondays are the busiest and usually most dreaded day. It’s the day you don’t want to get out of bed. The day you plan to wear comfy shoes. The day you want that extra cup of coffee. The day you start counting down to Friday. Ironically, as much I wish Monday was just an extension of Sunday, something I’ve noticed – I haven’t died in a Monday yet.
After a year of writing every night in a Tiny Treasures journal, the second most mentioned treasure was that I made it through Monday. What if I didn’t live each day just waiting for the weekend though? Not just being thankful that I made it through a day but saw the opportunity in a new week. What if I lived out the words God gave Joshua – to be strong and courageous and not be discouraged just because it’s another Monday. Knowing I can handle whatever Monday throws at me because God is with me wherever we go.
After much practice and it’ll still require more practice, I’m treasuring that I woke up for another Monday and get to go to work. I’m sure Joshua could have dreaded the huge task of trying to fill Moses’ shoes by being appointed the new leader of Gods’ people. Yet, the Bible shows no signs of dread, he just displayed trust and obedience in the task laid out before him.
Joshua did lead the Israelites to the promise land in his own shoes, and we may see the weekend as a coming promise land every week, but joy can still accompany us on the journey from Monday to Friday. Mondays are what we make them after all.
Lord, thank you for each day you give us. May we make the most of our daily dose of grace knowing You are with us wherever we go.
Amen!
